The City of Brooks and County of Newell are excited to announce, ‘Newell Proud,’ a Regional Campaign to support local businesses and encourage shopping local.
The ‘Newell Proud’ campaign aims to promote shopping local within the community, and help raise the profile of local businesses and diversity of goods produced in our region. It will also support the retention and expansion of independent and locally owned businesses by creating awareness about the personal, community and economic benefits of choosing to shop local.
“We want our residents to know that the dollars they spend locally, stay local,” said City of Brooks Mayor Barry Morishita. “Let’s support our local businesses and help make others aware of the wonderful retail, dining and performance opportunities in our City and region.”
“’Newell Proud’ is representative of the entire region,” said County of Newell Reeve Molly Douglass. “When county residents choose to support local businesses, that enables those businesses to support local projects. Local businesses support local sports teams, they donate to community causes and they give back to the communities that support them.”
All businesses within the County of Newell are asked to join in and promote this initiative, emphasizing the dual payoff for residents and businesses alike as local shopping habits increase. Along with the campaign, a brand was created to connect local businesses, artisans, residents and visitors. Two logos have been designed to represent the brand. ‘Newell Proud’ is for all businesses within the County of Newell and ‘Newell Made, Newell Proud,’ is for all artisans and locally made products.
Local businesses and artisans are welcome to take advantage of the brand’s logo to promote their business and or the products they produce. Stickers are available in limited quantities to place on locally made products and can be obtained at City Hall in Brooks. The logo is also available electronically to those wishing to reproduce the brand. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
As part of the campaign, the City and County will also be promoting shopping local through social media. A Facebook page has been created for local businesses, artisans, residents and visitors for promoting local business and products, share information and engage with one another. The page can be found at www.facebook.com/NewellProud.
