Asian Heritage Month Event

asian heritage month newsfeed

May is Asian Heritage Month, a time to acknowledge the long and rich history of Asian Canadians and their contributions to Canada. To celebrate, the City is hosting a special event on Sunday, May 28th, 2017 from 1:30-2:30pm at the Flex Room in the JBS Canada Centre (323 1st Street East, Brooks, AB T1R 1B7) that will honour the legacy of Canadians of Asian heritage.

Linh Huynh will be our guest speaker at the event. Linh’s family arrived in Canada in 1980 as part of the mass exodus of boat people fleeing Vietnam. Her journey to Brooks, Alberta as a child opened her eyes to what is possible if one lives intently and fearlessly.

In the past few years, Linh has been on an ambitious journey to represent Canada in some of the world’s most extreme races.  Linh’s presentations have been highly regarded with a hilarious yet humble perspective along with a zest for life that will leave you feeling captivated and inspired.

If you are interested in attending the event, please R.S.V.P. at ljoseph@brooks.ca or call 403-362-3333. For more information contact:
