For the 12th year in a row, the City of Brooks has received the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting (CAnFR) from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), in recognition of its annual financial report in 2019.
The CAnFR Program was established to encourage municipal governments throughout Canada to publish high-quality financial reports and to provide peer recognition and technical guidance for officials preparing these reports.
This award recognizes Canadian municipalities that go above and beyond in the preparation of their annual financial reports, modelling transparency and full disclosure.
Receiving this award represents a significant accomplishment by a local government and its management. It also demonstrates the City’s ongoing commitment to the responsible management of its financial resources, ensuring transparency and accountability.
The annual financial report has been judged by impartial Canadian Review Committee members to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” designed to clearly communicate the municipality’s financial story and to motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
